Hi! And welcome to my blog ‘The Wild Lenz’!
My name is Tim, and I’m an amateur hobbyist photographer from Singapore who has found a new passion in wildlife and outdoor photography, primarily bird photography, as you can obviously see from my posts.
Photography once used to be a job for me many years back. It was mainly studio work and stock imaging with the odd events and weddings thrown in to earn that little more in the pocket. After changing jobs to a different profession, coupled with family priorities, my cameras went into the dry cabinet and hardly appeared, unless it was for a family trip or a favor for a friend.
Throughout all that, I never forgot about photography and always stayed in touch with it through articles and the internet. I had always enjoyed having the ability to freeze the moment, capturing an image that can tell stories, filled with its own history and having an everlasting memory sealed forever.
So why wildlife and outdoor photography?
Well, I have always wanted to try these genres, and I finally have that chance now. Better late than never I guess? Plus, I am inspired by the challenge of nature and the outdoors, where the subject, backdrop, and lighting, is something I have no control of now! And it’s a great chance to slow down and take more notice of things that we often take for granted or never give a glance to. There is so much to discover and I hope to capture all I can through my lens.
My goal with this blog is sharing with you my learning journey as I navigate the beauty and complexity of the natural world, as well my challenges, stumbles, limitations, frustrations and hopefully great moments, as I learn the art of photographing wildlife. I hope that it inspires anyone who is thinking or wishing to get their feet wet in wildlife photography and allows you to take your hobby to another level.
I’m not an expert or a professional, and while there are some photographers who will take themselves very seriously, I prefer to take a light-hearted approach and have fun doing it. And I hope you will too!
So please have fun reading my stories as I discover and photograph as much as I can in my lifetime, and maybe one day, meet you out there as well!
